Have you heard about Chinese Canadian Stories? Today is the soft-launch of the Chinese Canadian Stories web portal, which aims to “give Canadians, young and old, the tools to discover and make their own history, using the latest advances in digital technology to access, recover and record our neglected past.” A joint initiative between UBC, SFU, and many community partners from across the country, it is funded by the Community Historical Recognition Program.
Chinese Canadian Stories is sure to have something for everyone- from a head-tax database for family and academic researchers, to a video game for kids and teens, to graphic historical timelines for those who just want to know a little more about moments and stories in Chinese Canadian history. The soft-launch event is today, from 4 to 8 pm in Room 318 in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
